Working with PDFs is one of those tasks everyone puts off because the usual tools want your email, your documents or your money. The new PDF Tools category brings six free tools to Utileaf. Here is what each one does and how to use it.

Merge PDFs into one file

The PDF Merger combines two or more PDFs into a single document. Upload your files, drag them into the order you want, remove any you change your mind about, and hit merge. The combined file downloads instantly.

This is perfect for joining scanned pages, combining several contracts into one PDF, or merging a cover page with the rest of a report.

Split a PDF by page range

The PDF Splitter does the reverse. Choose a start and end page, and the tool extracts exactly that range into a new file. You can also copy the whole document through for a clean, re-saved copy.

Use it to pull a single chapter out of an e-book, extract a signature page from a long agreement, or trim a file down to just the pages you need to send.

Rotate pages that are sideways

Scanner photos and phone uploads often come out rotated. The PDF Rotator lets you turn pages 90, 180 or 270 degrees, clockwise or counterclockwise. Rotate the entire document at once, or pick a page range if only part of the file is sideways.

Rotation is non-destructive, so the text and image quality of your PDF stays exactly the same.

Remove unwanted pages

The PDF Page Remover shows you a simple grid of every page in your PDF. Tick the ones you want gone — blank scans, duplicated pages, old drafts — and download the file without them. Your original document is never touched, so it is safe to experiment.

Convert images to a PDF

Need to send a set of photos as a single PDF? The Image to PDF converter turns one or more JPG or PNG images into a document. Arrange the image order, pick A4, US Letter or match the original image size, and choose portrait or landscape.

This is handy for scanning receipts into one file, turning photos of documents into a shareable PDF, or creating a quick portfolio from image files.

View and edit PDF metadata

Every PDF carries hidden information: its title, author, subject, keywords, creator and dates. The PDF Metadata Editor reads all of it and lets you edit the fields you can change. Fix a wrong title before sharing, or strip out metadata you do not want to send along.

Why everything stays on your device

All six tools are built with pdf-lib, a PDF library that runs entirely in the browser. When you upload a file, it is read straight from your disk into memory, processed on the spot, and the result is handed back as a download. Nothing is sent over the internet.

That means your documents never sit on someone else's server, you are not waiting on a slow upload for a 200 MB file, and there is no account or usage limit. It also means the tools work even if your connection drops mid-task.
